Many additional improvements to the car were inspired by the choice of running gear and how it related to the 1959 Corvette body. For example, the Tremec 6 speed transmission was bolted directly to the differential.
This involved fitting a torque tube and creating a ‘tunnel’ – involving body modifications. The tunnel ran through the fuel tank, and so the decision was made to relocate the tank rather than modify it.
Where is the fuel filler? Where has the familiar smell of gasoline gone? In moving the fuel tank to the spare well, gone is the external filler cap and up went the capacity. Again, sleek external lines contribute to the sharp look. A larger capacity custom fuel tank was built and the spare tire was deleted.
Not only is the battery gone from the engine bay, but so are most of the solenoids and clutter from the firewall. Now safely tucked away inside the kick panels, the LS2 engine computer and circuits are kept dry and out of sight. The battery was relocated to behind the driver’s seat clearing the engine bay. An Alpine amplifier and two subwoofers were fitted here too, unnoticeable from the exterior.
The original 1959 foot operated emergency brake was replaced in the switch from left to right, to a custom hand brake fitted down the centerline.
